Safe Rx Named 2020 Colorado Company to Watch

Mission-driven organization dedicated to creating a safer home via medication security recognized among 50 winning companies across Colorado

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo. (Sept. 13, 2020) – Safe Rx, a company on a mission to fight America’s opioid epidemic and drug abuse with its award-winning Locking Pill Bottle (LPB®), has been named a 2020 Colorado Company to Watch winner. The company is recognized for its innovative locking pill bottles and efforts to raise awareness of the opioid epidemic, the risks of prescription drug misuse and medication security in the home.

Colorado Companies to Watch, organized by ColoradoBiz Magazine, recognizes a diverse group of companies fueling the Colorado economy. This year, the award attracted close to 1,000 nominees, with 93 companies selected as finalists and ultimately 50 selected as winners. Winners typically are high-growth small businesses, making contributions to Colorado’s economy through job creation, revenue generation, innovative products and services and philanthropic efforts.

“It’s a privilege to be recognized as one of Colorado’s most innovative, successful and impactful organizations for our efforts to create a safer home and raise awareness of the importance of medication security,” said Milton Cohen, Safe Rx president and CEO. “Our locking pill bottles can help prevent misuse or abuse of pills in the family medicine cabinet, and are a step forward in confronting the opioid epidemic.”

The Safe Rx Locking Pill Bottle is a patented, physician-developed, child-resistant and senior-friendly certified safe storage solution with a combination lock for medication. It provides an additional layer of security in preventing drug pilfering from the family medicine cabinet – the number one source of teen drug abuse, as reported by the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids. In the past few years, Safe Rx has gained distribution in multiple national chains such as Target, in regional grocery store chains and on Amazon.

In 2019, more than 11 million lives were impacted by opioid abuse – and recent data points to a substantial increase in substance abuse from the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects on the economy.

Safe Rx will be recognized at a gala event celebrating the 2020 winners on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020. More information on the award and 2020 winners can be found here: WWW.COLORADOCOMPANIESTOWATCH.ORG/.
