FAQ
-
How strong are these bottles and what are they made of?
The bottles are made of sturdy Polypropylene, and are stronger than regular medicine bottles. They are held to the same standards as all other prescription medication bottles.
-
Can students choose their own code?
Yes. These LPBs are fully customizable with their own unique 4-digit code using our special encoders.
-
How long do the encoders last?
Each box of 50 vials comes with 2 encoders. Although these encoders are intended to last for hundreds of uses, we recommend using new ones with every box to ensure the tabs are removed cleanly during the encoding process.
-
How large are the bottles?
There are two sizes for our bottles, 18-dram (small), and 60-dram (large). The 18-dram vial has roughly a 1” diameter and is about 4.5” tall. The 60-dram vial has roughly a 2” diameter and is about 5” tall.
-
Which size is best for students?
We recommend the large locking pill bottles for students that get their prescription meds from off campus. Depending on the size and shape of their prescription bottle, they can simply put their entire labeled 16-dram vials into the large locking pill bottles. If your university has an on-campus pharmacy and can dispense the medications into the locking pill bottles, we recommend both the 18-dram and 60-dram vials for maximum flexibility.
-
Which Universities should purchase LPBs?
Any university that has an active student body physically present on campus should have some form of LPBs for the students.
Safe Rx locking pill bottles were purchased to provide students with an option to lock their medication as a way of means restriction surrounding suicide and as a way to increase safe storage practices. Students have enjoyed this product as they can create their own code which can be filed with Safe Rx in case the code is forgotten while being stored safely.
